2022 - Call for applications towards young people - Training on advocacy
Safir is an ambitious project supporting youth and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 9 countries across Northern African and the Middle East that are Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia. Co-financed by the European Union, it promotes the economic inclusion of young people and their active participation in achieving the SDG and in national and regional decision-making processes.
Safir is based on 3 pillars :
- supporting more than 1,000 youth involved in entrepreneurial projects with social, cultural and environmental impact
- structuring and developing a regional network of support structures to social entrepreneurship
- and creating spaces for dialogue between youth and governmental authorities.
The objective of this call for applications is to select 400 youth from the 9 Arab countries covered by the project to take part in the advocacy component of Safir. More precisely, the selected youth will benefit from training sessions on Agenda 2030 and advocacy and will be supported by 20 civil society organizations (CSOs) throughout 5 months to develop their knowledge and expertise in development and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The training sessions shall begin in October 2022 and will last for about six months. Later in March-April 2023, some of the trained youth will be selected to participate in the regional Youth Forum event and more importantly in the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development (AFSD), which is a regional event organized by ESCWA on a yearly basis in preparation for the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York. The selected youth will be allowed full engagement at the AFSD and will have the opportunity to share their visions and recommendations on SDGs that they tailored from the Youth Forum.
Eligibility requirements :
- You are between 18 and 30 years old;
- You are from one of the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia;
- You reside in one of the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia
- You are a student, fresh graduate, employee, job hunter, entrepreneur, or self-employed.
Evaluation criteria :
The candidates will be evaluated based on the eligibility requirements listed above, and more importantly for their demonstrated interest in development themes and issues, SDGs and advocacy, as well as their motivation to join such an enthusiastic program and be part of Safir project.
You will be asked for an identitu document to validate your application. Identity documents will be stored on Safir website jury area. They will be stored for 6 months if you application is rejected and 2 years maximum if it is accepted - unless you object.
